The Sidmouth Folk Festival celebrates 65 years in 2019, recognised as a huge cultural highlight in the South West region, marked by its prestigious Blue Plaque status – awarded as part of BBC Music Day – and acknowledged as a national treasure by festival goers from across the country and wider world.

This very special week-long seaside festival, held every year in the first week of August since 1955, puts the stunning red-cliffed coastal resort of Sidmouth, East Devon firmly on the map.

De Lokerse Feesten is a ten-day city festival that takes place during the month of August in Lokeren, East Flanders, Belgium. The Lokerse Feesten took place for the first time in 1975.

What started as a small-scale party, organized by the local youth centers and some enthusiasts, grew into a fully-fledged 10-day (city) festival in 42 years. The festival site on the Grote Kaai currently has a capacity of 15,000 visitors. The term "Lokerse Feesten" has become a collective name for all activities within those 10 days in the city center of Lokeren (just as happened with the Gentse Feesten. During the Lokerse Feesten, visitors can also visit the Fonnefeesten, a second festival site, which takes place is located in the Princess Josephine Charlottepark, which used to be home to the Polifonics festival, which had its last edition in 2013. Up to and including 2014, the Fonne parties took place at the Oude Vismijn van Lokeren, after which they moved to the current location.

The Øya Festival took over from the Kalvøya Festival, which was held on the island Kalvøya from 1971 to 1997, with legends like Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne and Nirvana on stage. The new festival appeared in 1999 under the name Øya, which means "island", and the name was kept when the festival moved off the island and into the city in 2001.

2001–2013 the Øya Festival took place in the Medieval Park, but due to work on the train lines it moved to Tøyen Park (Tøyenparken) – still in beautiful green surroundings on Oslo's east side, still near the centre of Oslo.

Smukfest (aka Skanderborg Festival) is an annual music festival, held during the first weekend of August in Denmark. Its location, in a beech forest in the vicinity of Skanderborg, has given rise to the slogan "Denmarks' Most Beautiful Festival" (Danish: Danmarks Smukkeste Festival).

The festival covers many styles of music, such as rock, pop, folk, heavy metal, hip-hop and electronic. The festival focuses mainly on Danish music, but with some big names from other countries e.g. Britney Spears, Eric Clapton, Prince, Pet Shop Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, Tom Jones, Fat Boy Slim, Blood Hound Gang and many more.

The first festival was held in 1980, and was a one-day event with 7 bands and about 600 spectators.

The festival has a mascot called "Waltidur Festismuk Kærligkys Ølimund Rockilund Trold" (Waltidur Party-beauty Loving-kiss Beer-in-mouth Rock-in-grove Troll), born in 1579, thus the festival was born on Waltidurs 400th birthday.

In 2009, Skanderborg Festival was held for the 30th time and is today the second largest (sleep-over) festival in Denmark, after the Roskilde Festival. The festival gathered more than 50,000 people for the concerts, including 8,500 workers, most of them volunteers and has reached the current site's maximum capacity.[1]

The festival is getting increasingly popular and all 40.000+ tickets for the 2017 festival was sold in less than 5 hours.
