Everything new, everything different: in 2019, the c/o pop Festival will move - not only from August to the most beautiful month of the year (May of course!), but also from the Belgian Quarter to Ehrenfeld. After 15 years, the area around Brüsseler Platz has simply become too small. Time to mix up the district around Venloer Straße! For example, many people don't even know the 70s charm of the Bügerzentrum Ehrenfeld. On 03.05., our favourite Swiss Dagobert will be on stage here. The showcase program c/o Ehrenfeld on Saturday and Sunday will also take place here, inside and outside, with numerous workshops and readings and of course, as always, free admission. As usual, the musical focus will be on German acts and artists.

So that you can look forward to a few highlights, we already reveal two more names besides Dagobert: Tocotonic will certainly come up with a special program for their performance at the Cologne Philharmonic and who could fit better on the stage of the WDR Sendesaal than MINE? Hauschka completes the program at Gürzenich Cologne Who wants to secure tickets now: Festival tickets and single tickets for the respective shows are available in our shop - by the way, this is also brand new.

The Labadoux festival is a folk festival that has been held every year since 1988 in the municipality of Ingelmunster in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The festival has become a fixture in the Flemish festival landscape. Labadoux presents 'Music with roots' and at the same time open to new talent that can give the festival an original approach.

The festival originated from the music café "De Fagot" operated by Jean-Piere Deven. "De Fagot" is located in the Stationsstraat between the Mandel and the Roeselare-Leie Canal. The building that now houses the pub was the end of the long façade of Tapijtenweverij Vanooteghem. The caretaker of the factory lived there. People used to call the factory "De Labadou". In a French etymological dictionary from 1850 it says: labadou = lavier; lieu destiné à laver du linge. So a place to wash linen. Applicable for a carpet factory where a lot of linen was used. It is not known when the word labadou was first used in Ingelmunster. The word was found by the local local circle in an interview with Leon Deschuytere. The X was finally added by the committee that wanted to organize a cultural party in 1988 close to De Fagot.

The largest and most established annual curated multi-arts festival in England, Brighton Festival is a celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and family events, which takes place in venues both familiar and unusual in the city of Brighton and Hove in England each May.

Established in 1967, Brighton Festival has become one of the city's most enduring symbols of inventiveness over the past half century. In 1964 the first moves were made to hold a Festival in Brighton, and Ian Hunter, the eventual Artistic Director of the Festival, submitted a programme of ideas. This was followed by a weekend conference in 1965, and the Board of the Brighton Festival Society was born. The first Festival was held in 1967, and included the first ever exhibition of Concrete Poetry in the UK, alongside performances by Laurence Olivier and Yehudi Menuhin.

In the introduction to the 1968 Festival programme, Ian Hunter explained the original intentions of the Festival: “The aim of the Brighton Festival is to stimulate townsfolk and visitors into taking a new look at the arts and to give them the opportunity to assess developments in the field of culture where the serious and the apparently flippant ride side by side.”

Now one of Europe’s leading arts festivals, Brighton Festival is known for its ambitious and daring programme that aims to make the most of the city’s distinctive cultural atmosphere, drawing some of the most innovative artists and companies and adventurous audiences from the UK and around the world.

Jointly produced with award-winning community arts organisation Same Sky, the annual Children’s Parade officially launches Brighton Festival and has delighted participants and spectators for over 25 years. The largest of its kind in Europe, the parade is attended by almost 5,000 children from schools and community groups from across the region and cheered on by many thousands of spectators.

In 2016 Brighton Festival celebrated its 50th year of commissioning and producing innovative arts and culture. The milestone 50th edition - with experimental artist and musician Laurie Anderson as Guest Director - was the most successful in its history. The Festival’s biggest talking point was Nutkhut’s Dr Blighty,[1] an ambitious, large-scale, free immersive, outdoor experience co-commissioned in partnership with Royal Pavilion & Museums and 14-18 NOW, which highlighted the story of wounded Indian soldiers hospitalised in Brighton during WW1. Ending each night with a spectacular light display using projection-mapping, Dr Blighty set the city and social media abuzz and drew audiences of almost 65,000 over its five-day run.

Heartland Festival combines live talks and contemporary art with the greatest things from the music and food scene. The festival takes places at one of the most scenic places in Denmark; in the gardens surrounding Egeskov Castle on the island of Funen. Heartland Festival is created in collaboration with some of the most prominent and skillful people in their fields.

Heartland curates to a quality-driven and culturally interested audience. Festival director, Ulrik Ørum-Petersen says:
“Heartland Festival is an attempt to create a festival unlike other existing festivals in Denmark. A festival that resembles successful international festivals such as ones seen in e.g. England and The Netherlands. To be able to create this type of festival in Denmark at one of the most beautiful spots in the world is a dream come true.“

VIVID TALKS AND GREAT CULINARY EXPERIENCES
Heartland creates its program in collaboration with partners, curators, and advisors amongst the most capable in the country. Danish and international participants discuss and address the times we live in and the lives we lead today.

When it comes to food, our ambition is to create unique experiences with emphasis on local produce and exclusive quality.

CONTEMPORARY ART AND AN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC PROGRAM
The aim with presenting contemporary art at Heartland Festival is to elaborate on the contrasts between contemporary art, an open air space, and a castle from the 16th century.

Best Kept Secret is a three day music festival in Hilvarenbeek. This year the festival will be organised for the sixth time.

At Best Kept Secret, we program artists we – as fans of music – would like to see live, preferably in front of a larger audience than said artists are used to. By doing so, we don’t think in genres or stylistics. Whether it’s indie rock, hip hop, electronic music: as long as we dig it, it deserves a slot at our festival. With over a hundred artists, bands and DJs performing at Best Kept Secret perennially, there’s plenty of stuff to discover.

To make the experience that much more fulfilling, we take great pride in making the festival site as beautiful and practical as possible. Best Kept Secret exhibits and utilizes the gorgeous woodland area surrounding safari park Beekse Bergen, with a beautiful lakeside to boot. Our open air main stage ONE can be found right at the beach. The additional stages are sheltered by the bordering woodlands. If you follow the hubbub through the woods, you’ll eventually find your way to FOUR, better known as the DJ-stage. Over here, our host St, Paul stands behind the turntables to share his love and enthusiasm for music, along with an assembly of guest DJs and heads.

Camping is another integral part of Best Kept Secret. You can sleep on the natural campsite, rent a cosy bungalow or stay inside a log cabin at the bungalow park. Not only does Best Kept Secret deliver diversity and balance in its programming and facilities, there’s also a strong emphasis on providing good, sustainable food and drinks.

Best Kept Secret is all about giving you and your friends the opportunity to shape your own festival experience. Take your chums to an area where only the loudest and darkest music will be played, grab the mic to sing karaoke, challenge your friends to a video game or sit down at our long table. And most importantly, enjoy this weekend of great music and exciting performances with us!

The Caribana Festival in Crans-près-Céligny, Vaud, Switzerland started in 1990 as an opportunity for people in Switzerland to enjoy live music at the shores of Lake Léman. The event has grown over the years and changed from a free, small, local festival to an international event with 19,500 visitors in 2005.

Caribana lasts for four days (Thursday to Sunday) and offers a variety of artists. It is not, as its name suggests, an event devoted to Caribbean music.

The Pinkpop Festival or PINKPOP is a large, annual music festival held at Landgraaf, Netherlands. It is usually held on the Pentecost weekend (Pinksteren in Dutch, hence the name). Starting in1970, at Burgemeester Damen Sportpark in the town of Geleen, PinkPop is the oldest and longest running annual dedicated pop and rock music festival in the world.

Nowadays, Pinkpop is a three-day festival, from Saturday through Monday, with a 60,000 people per day capacity, and with performances on 4 separate stages. From 2006 through 2011, Pinkpop sold out six years in a row. During 44 editions, more than 2 million people have attended Pinkpop. Some 700 music acts have played at the festival.

In 1994 (the 25th edition), it was decided to sell only 60,000 tickets, to prevent overcrowding due to the popularity of the festival. In 1995, it was made into a 2-day festival. Two years later, in 1997, this was further expanded to three days.

2007 saw a spin-off, later in the year, on 11 August, called Pinkpop Classic, for an older rock audience, with bands that previously performed there in past decades. This spin-off was held again in following years, with exception of 2011, in which the organisation was not able to sign enough interesting older bands.

In 2008, Pinkpop was for the first time in its history not held on Pentecost weekend, which fell too early that year for the convenience of fans and performers alike. This was decided following the 2005 edition, in which the Pentecost weekend also fell early and therefore Pinkpop could not convince many great performers to come play at the festival. Sales were disappointing in 2005, so by shifting the 2008 festival, the organization hoped to solve these problems. Pinkpop 2008 turned out to have had the largest concert attendance to date. The dates for the 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2016 edition have been shifted as well, for similar reasons.
